The Television

“This TV never lies to you.”

The Television explores human relationships, isolation, and the emotional connection between people and technology through a cinematic narrative. Shot on location in Iran, it follows a man whose only remaining companion is the flickering screen in the corner of his room.

The Story

Synopsis

A man lives alone with a television that shows him paintings instead of programmes. As the days repeat — the alarm, the walk, the empty park — the screen becomes the only place where anything still moves him.

Director's Statement

I wanted to film loneliness without dialogue. The television is not a villain; it is a mirror. What we choose to watch tells us exactly what we are missing.

Creative Vision

Teal walls, tungsten lamps, static frames held a beat too long. Everything was shot practically, on location, with a small crew — the restraint is the style.

Director’s Journey

From Traditional Cinema to AI Filmmaking

The Television represents Ali Shirazi’s early cinematic work, while Neon Rebellion explores the future of storytelling through artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

  1. 2015

    The Television

Traditional cinema. Real locations, a RED camera, a small Iranian crew and a story told in silence.

  2. 2026

    Neon Rebellion

AI-driven cinematic storytelling. The same authorship, rebuilt with generative tools and a synthetic megacity.
